Commissioning

I am currently accepting commissions and would love to work with you! Please fill out the form below if you’re interested in commissioning a piece of music.

  • Commissioning a piece of music is a powerful experience for both conductor and ensemble. Doing so adds new works to the living canon of music and creates special bonds between conductor, ensemble, and audience. Commissioning a new work is a great way to celebrate special occasion for your ensemble, or can become a regular feature of your choir’s mission.

  • Start by filling out the form below for an initial inquiry!

After the initial conversation, the commissioning ensemble, the conductor, and I will discuss the organization’s objectives and desired outcomes for the collaboration. This process clarifies key elements: the ensemble type (SATB, Treble, TB, chorus and solo, etc.); the performers’ technical capabilities; the purpose or occasion for the commission; the budget; the instrumentation; and the type of text to be set.

  • Cost is calculated based on several factors: duration of the piece; type of voicing and instrumentation; budget of the ensemble; and the composer’s role, if any, related to preparation and/or premiere.
