I started singing in choirs as a senior in high school, and the experience had a profound effect on my life. Up to my senior year, I had bounced around trying to figure out what I liked - band, sports, theatre/drama, golf (all things I still love!), but none of them ever felt like me. Finally, after some passionate convincing from a dear friend, I took the leap and joined my school’s choir.
On that first day in choir class, we sang in harmony. Tears welled up in my eyes as I discovered the joy and freedom that is singing. Ever since, I’ve been chasing transformative experiences in choral music - as a singer, as a conductor, as an educator, and as a composer. The deepest and most impactful relationships in my life have been built through singing, from my friends and my students, to my wife and my family. Bringing people together is at the core of what I hope to do.
